One thing I noticed in this chapter is that Mama is getting better each day. I know this because on pg.234 it says, "Mama seemed to get a little stronger everyday, although she still took many naps." I figured out that Miguel brought back Abuelita to make Esperanza and Mama happier even after what Esperanza said to him. I have had something stolen from me by my sister and I got really mad at her, like Esperanza was at Miguel, because she had lost what she stole from me. I never found that game until about 2 months ago. Here are some questions I have about this novel:
1. Did one of Luis' spies catch Miguel taking Abuelita?
2.Will Mama ever have a relapse?
3. Will Esperanza and Miguel get married when they're older?
#23 :>K :VK :PK
I noticed that Esperanza and other workers in the shed could set aside food for themselves. I figured out that Mama needed abuteta to get better. I wonder if Tio Luis and Tio Marco folowed abuletia to California. I do not think so because trains are hard to track.

one thing i noticed is mamas health, she gets better every day just like #23 said!In thus chapter i figured out that meguil wasent leaving because of esperanza..it was for esperanza and mama. One conection is that i know what it is like to not see someome you love in a long time and then have a happy reunion!

In this chapter I noticed that Miguel was very caring. He brought Abuelita from Aguascalientes! I think that taking the money with out asking was the only wrong part about it. I know this because on page 239 it says, "Abuelita came closer. Small and wrinkled, with whisps of white hair falling out in the back out of the bun in the back of her head. I figured out that Esperanza got the meannig of what it was like to work. She figured out that life is not what you have. A connection that
I made was when my dad leaves for Austin, Texas on a business trip. Until he gets back, I miss him.
I hav some questions:
?#1
What will happen with Tio Luis and Tio Marco?
?#2
Will there be a sequal?
#11
In this chapter I realized that Mama is beginning to recover from her bad illnesses. Hope sure is "rising" in the Ortega family right now! Not only is Mama feeling more well each day, Abuelita is here again! Yeah! One connection I've proceeded to make is the following: Every winter, my grandmother goes down to Florida. I don't get to see her for quite a while, sometimes until Easter Sunday and beyond! It doesn't feel right to be away from your family member for so long. I can feel Anza's pain. For she knows what it's like to be away from a Mother, and a Grandmother!!! What a nightmare! I also have a few questions to contribute:
1. If there is a sequel to the novel, will the uncles be involved?
2. Will Mama ever completely recover from Valley Fever and her pnemonia?
3. Will the Ortega's ever get to leave their company camp?
4. When the Great Depression is done ruining people's lives, will the Ortega's get jobs and continue their lives as first class people?
Sooo many questions...yet, so FEW answers...

One thing I noticed about this chapter is that Mama is getting better. I know this because on page 234 it says, "Mama seemed to get stronger everyday, although she still took many naps". I figured out that Miguel left not because he was mad at Esperanza because he went to find Abuelita. My brother and I get into a lot of fights, and I get really mad at him, like Esperanza and Miguel. One question I have is Did tttio Luis's spies find Abuelita?

#9,
In the future, (this all depends on what your sister needs the computer for) you can ask her to wait until your done with the blog- YOUR HOMEWORK, no less! Hope I helped!

One thing I noticed in this chapter is that Miguel brings Abuelita to Esperanza and Mama. It states this on page 239 when it said "Abuelita came closer". One thing I figured out in this chapter is that Miguel stole Esperanza's money orders to bring Abuelita to her. One connection I made in this chapter is when Esperanza was really happy when her grandmother got off the bus. I am really happy when my dad comes home from long business trips. One question I have is how long Luis and Marco will continue searching for Esperanza and her family.
#25 :-)K :VK :-DK
One thing I noticed is a couple of happy things happen in this chapter. First, Mama gets better from being sick for a long time, then Miguel brings Abuelita to the camp. I know this because on page 234 it says, "Mama seemed to get a little stronger everyday, although she still took many naps."I figured out that Miguel wanted to pay Esperanza back by bringing Abuelita to them instead of giving her money. I can connect to Isabel because when I first start something I'm not that good at it, just like when Isabel started knitting and her stitches were all crooked. Here are some questions I still have about the book:
1. Will Mama have a relapse?
2. Did Tio Luis and Tio Marco kill Papa?
3. Will Esperanza ever return to Mexico?
#17
I have a comment:
I think it was brave of Esperanza's old neighbors to not tell Tio Luis and Tio Marco where Esperanza and everyone else were.
#17
I noticed in this chapter is that mama is getting better every single day. I know this because on page 234 it says, " mama seemed to get a little stronger every day." I figured out that Miguel did steal the money orders. I know this because on page 238 it says, "did you bring back what you have stolen." A connetion that I have with the characters is that Esperanza got mad at Miguel and I get mad at my brother sometimes.
here are some quetions I have:
#1 I wonder if Mama is going to die soon.
#2 If mama dies who will help Esperanza.
Very good point #17! It was very loyal indeed of Anza's old neighbors not to give away the area to which the Ortega's fled to.

Person who went at 6:55 p.m.,
If you proceeded to read to the end of the novel, as most did, you would know that Mama is regaining her strength by the second! Therefore, she did not die....
Unless... there IS a sequel...

I noticed that in this chapter, Mama is recovering better every day. On oage 234 it says,"Mama seemed to get a little stronger everyday, although she still took many naps." (Thanks #23) I figured out that Miguel didn't leave because of Esperanza, it was because he wanted to reunite Esperanza and Mama with Abuelita. Awwww how sweet!!! The connections that I made were that i have had my brother borrow a.k.a STEEL some of my money! Also, when my dad goes away for buisness I miss him alot too. The questions that I still have are:
1. Did one of the uncles spies follow them?
2. Will Mama get sick again? Will she suffer or die?
3. Will Miguel look past Esperanzas comments and forgive her or start a relashionship?
4. Will Abuelita get sick or die because of her age?
#22
In this chapter I noticed that Tio Lious and Tio Marco could still be looking for them now especially because Abulita has been snatched from right under their noses! I noticed that Esperanza can be happy even without being rich plus everyone else is now completely happy. I know they are happy because inthe book it says someting like Esperanza stitched in a hair to remined her of her time of happieness. Plus like carmon said a while back in the story I am poor in money but I am rich in spirit thats how Esperanza is. I can connect to Esperanza because she hasn't seen her granny in a year and she came an I hadn't seen my granny in a year untill she came for spring break. My question about the novel is why didn't Pam right more about the times of Esperanza's wealfines. #10
First of all, I want to let #1000 know that I didn't finish the chapter and I misplaced my book so I won't be doing this assignment. I'm SO sorry about this problem and I will do the assignment later-when I have my book, of course!:(
-#14
Wow! These comments are extremely outstanding. I'm totally impressed and I'm admiring everyone's answers!:)
-#14
I'm not sure if I spelled
"misplaced" wrong- there are probably two S's. So sorry!
-#14
#14,
Just reassuring you:
You spelled "misplaced" correctly.
It is okay that you forgot your book, I did it too one time!
~20~
Since I was really close to the end of the book,-( when I mean "close", I mean the second-to-last page)- I will answer the first question only with what I know. Here is my answer:
The thing I noticed more than anything else in this last chapter is that everything I was hoping for actually happened in the end. Mama got better, Abuelita was able to come without the uncles knowing, Miguel found work, Isabel was able to overcome the "Miss May pagent" incident, the babies are healthy and growing, everyone is happy, and most inportantly- Esparanza made the best out of everything. She really has grown in this book because she went from a spoiled little jerk to a mature and loving young lady. What a fantastic book this is!:)
-#14
Gee, thanks #20 for calming me down about my "almost misspelled word"-it feels good to know everyone forgets their stuff sometimes!:)
-#14
Sorry, that last sentence doesn't make sense- I should have put an "also" between "it" and "feels". I'm SO embarrassed!
-#14
#9's comment was really good- I liked the detail about their "happy reunion"- it was a good connection!:)
-#14
One thing I noticed in this chapter
is that Miguel caught Esperanza and I by suprise when he brought Abuelita up to the camp. I figured
that Tio Luis and Tio Marco FAILED
their plan. After all that hard work burning down the house (sarcasm) and convincing Mama to marry him. It wasn't the smartest thing to do.(One tip for Tio Luis...cooing women like that is just not right.) Another thing I noticed was that I was right about wondering if Tio Marco and Tio Luis were threatening Abuelita. They sent spies to follow her everywhere!!I can connect to this chapter because my parents told me my grandparents were arriving from Tampa,Florida in five days, and they came in four!! I was as happy as Esperanza when she saw Abuelita, maybe happier!
? #1 Did Tio Marco and Tio Luis kill Papa?
?#2 Why did Miguel leave California so mad without appologizing to Esperanza?
?#3 Why was Marta soooo mean in the beginning of the book?
?#4 Why did Esperanza bragg about her pretty d resses to Isabell?
#6
I agree with # 14 #9 did a great job
#6
One thing I noticed is that Mama is getting healthier day in and day out I know this because on pg 234 it says,"Mama seemed to get a little stronger everyday, although she still took many naps." In this chapter I found out that Miguel stole the money orders to get Abuelita back and to get travel money to find work. One connection I have is that I've had something stolen from me too. A couple of questions I have are will Mama get well? Where is Marta? But lasty will Esperanza ever get back on her feet and get out of the camp and find a real house?
I noticed that Isabella and Abuelita formed a bond the second they saw each other. Miguel didn't run away to northern California because he might've had secv
ond thoughts about his actions. Like my mom after she came down with a flu, "Mama seemed to get a little stronger every day, although she still took many naps." (p. 234) I wonder if Tio Luis found out about Esperanza and Mama and that they were living in California.
*12* ;{)K
One thing I noticed in this chapter is that Miguel is very caring. I mean really, he brought home Abuelita from Aguascalientes,Mexico. I know this because on page 238-239 it says, "Then he turned to help the last passenger from the bus, a small, older woman trying to get down the steep steps.... Abuelita came closer." One thing I figured out in this chapter is that Mama is getting alot better since she left the hospital. (Yeah!) One connection I had in this novel is that Mama had pneumonia and my Mom had walking pneumonia in the fall. Finally I have a few guestions...
#1 Will Esperanza and Miguel ever get married?
#2 Will there ever be a second book where Tio Luis and Tio Marco come back?
#3 Did one of Esperanza's uncles spies follow Abuelita?
#15 :) :DK
I noticed in this chapter that Miguel took the money and used it to bring Abuelita to the camp.I know this because on page 239-240 it says,"Abuelita, Abuelita!" she cried."Aqui estoy. I am here, mi nieta. How I have missed you"...Esperanza looked at Miguel. "How?"she asked. I needed to have something while I waited for work. So I went for her." I figured out that Moguel wasn't a terrible theif. A connection I have in this chapter is that when I'm reunited with my grandmother every month I am so glad to see her.
Questions:
#1 How did Abuelita get to California without being noticed by Tio Luis's spies?
#2 Do the two evil uncles know about what Abuelita has done?
7#
I think that #15 brought up a good point about if Esparanza and Miguel ever get married and I'm also wondering the same thing. I predict they will because Miguel has always been a good person to her and I think they both love each other- more than just close friends.
-#14
I noticed that some characters engage and disengage in the story, at the begginning the whole story was about how much Ezpo missed Papa, Abuelita was only there in the beggining and end and Tio Luis & Tio Marco aren't even a factor anymore. In this chapter I learned what Miguyel did
I also have a question to ask- it hasn't been brought up yet so here it is:
Will Mama ever fall in love again and get married?
-#14
SORRY!!! irealy don't know how it got puplished?!
~#2~
:p
Who did the comment at 9:25? I liked it because you brought up the point that in this story "some character engage and disengage in the story". I have a question for that person:
Do you think every character is engaged now?
-#14
By the way #14 those 2 blogs were SUPOSED 2 be side by side!
Oh, #2 did the comment. Well... good job!:)
-#14
Forgot my number again!
~#2~
:p
no i don't think every gharacter is engaged now #14 becuase were the heck is Papa (I know he's dead but ha wa sstill part of the story in the start) and the uncles
~#2~
:P
back to my oringinal assignment... with the money while he was gone. The only connection I could think of would be around the same time period as the story when my Irish ancestors came to get jobs in America. I still wonder what happened to Tio Luis & Tio Marco.
~#2~
:p
In this chapter I noticed that Abuelita came to California. I figured out that Miguel DID take the money orders so he could go up north. A connection I had with this chapter is when Abuelita stepped off the bus and Esperanza 'thought she was a ghost'. I would probably think something like this too because I would be so surprised to see her.
Here are a few questions I have about, 'Esperanza Rising'...
Q1:Did Miguel really take the money orders to look for work or did he just use the excuse so Esperanza would be surprised when she saw Abuelita? (she would be surprised anyway but probably not like this).
Q2:Did Tio Marco and Tio Luis hurt anyone while they were looking for Miguel, Mama, and Esperanza? (not so much Miguel, but still).
Q3:What exactly was Miguel's plan to escape?
#4
One thing I noticed in this chapter is that Mama is getting better quickly. I know this because on pg 243 it says,"Mama seemed to get a little stronger everyday, although she still took many naps." One thing I figured out in this chapter was that Tio Luis and Tio Marco were still watching Abuelita. One connection I made in this chapter was that Senor Rodriguez and Miguel came in the middle of the night, in most action movies if the characters are trying to kidnap someone they come in the middle of the night too. One questions I have about the book is why did Miguel go get Esperanza?

#14,
holy bananas!!!! If you don't have your book why do you make so many comments??? You made a bunch. No offense, but if you don't have the book why do you make so many comments?????????
One thing that i noticed is that with every day Mamas health is improving.I can see this because it states so on page 234 "Mama seemed to get a little stronger everyday, although she still took many naps." I figured out that Tio Luis and Marco are the most stubborn "Pathetic excuses for human beings" as i said in an earlier blog, in MEXICO!They are so obbsesed with getting married to a woman they dont even give a care about!I can connect to Mama because when you are ill having your mom is better than some medicine that tastes like rotten tomatos but is bubble gum flavored!
I wonder if Luis and Marco will give up searching for Mama or will they die completely obbsesed with finding her?
